On 29 June 2015, the Latvian Presidency Handover meeting in the area of statistics was held in Jūrmala, Latvia.  Delegations from Trio Presidencies – Italy, Latvia, Luxembourg – as well as from the Commission (Eurostat) attended the meeting.

In Riga, a high-level seminar in statistics of Eastern European, Caucasian and Central Asian (EECCA) countries discussed the draft Generic Statistical Law. The law will strengthen the institutional independence of statistical offices of the EECCA countries, impartiality of official statistics, and conformity with the UN Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics and the European Statistics Code of Practice.

On 29 April the fourth meeting of the European Union (EU) Council Working Party on Statistics during the Latvian Presidency was held in Brussels. The meeting agenda covered issues related to proposals of the Member States for the draft regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on harmonised indices of consumer prices[1].
